Human Rights & Global Citizenship is a a custom global program managed by CCSA for East Tennessee State University. The group of 25 students and three non-credit participants began their program on May 24 and return on June 11. They start in London, then travel to Liverpool, ending in Dublin.

For ETSU students, this course is the second of three in the series Human Rights and Global Citizenship sequence for the Global Citizen Scholars program. The course enables students to see an international perspective on human rights issues as they continue to develop the mindset and skills of a Global Citizen.

In London, students visit world-renown museums with specific examination of colonialism and human rights, and learn about human rights in an urban environment. Among other sites, they will visit Oxford and the Globe Theater as a means to connect to the long and colorful history of London. In Liverpool, students will meet ETSU alum and explore the urban center and outlying areas of a city steeped in the history of immigration. In Dublin, the group will learn more about Ireland’s history and significant events that shaped it.

The course is led by Dr. Scott Contreras-Koterbay (Art History and Philosophy of Art) and Dr. Chris Keller (Dean ETSU Honors College). Brittany Mitchell serves as the on-site administrator.

CCSA-Custom-Global

CCSA Custom Global organizes short-term (eight weeks or less) “faculty-directed” credit and non-credit programs in US domestic and English-speaking international locations. Custom programs enable schools to control their programs while CCSA provides logistical support. The school selects the program leaders and approves the program, then CCSA Custom Global helps make it happen.
